I put some 700 x 23s on my 29er, because I figure I won't be riding any trails until spring break. I decided that I'd climb Rist Canyon today and then head down through Masonville back into town. The climb wasn't that bad. Because of the snow yesterday, there was about an inch of packed snow that I rode on all the way up, except for sometimes where the shoulder was melted away so I could ride on the pavement. I got to the top, ate a granola bar, zipped up my jacket, and then got really wet and miserable on the way down. I had to stop twice to clean my glasses so I could see, and one time I got something in my eye and it took me a few minutes to dig it out...I still don't know how I did it. When I got to Masonville the roads were nice and dry and I was able to enjoy the rest of my ride. I was planning on 3.5 hours, but it took more like 4.25 because of the bad conditions. Tomorrow I'm going to stick on the flats a little more and try to stay dry!!!!!
